AP National Hickory Players Golf Association Announces

the 2015 Chambers Bay Hickory Championship

The Hickory Golf Hub welcomes new Local Newsie Durel Billy of the Atlantic Pacific National Hickory Players Golf Association. And does he have great news for all of us! The AP National Hickory Players have snagged a May 24th date at the Chambers Bay GC in Washington state, where the 2015 U.S. Open will be played. And to sweeten the experience, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the First Tee of South Pugent Sound.

Durel writes, “We were fortunate enough to secure the course on the last day it is open to the public [prior to the 2015 U.S. Open]. Who better to walk the fairways of America’s St. Andrews before the Open then hickory players? We have hickory players coming as far away as New York City and hope to attract many more.”

And we at HGH have no doubt that hope will be fulfilled. Chambers Bay overlooks the Carr Inlet in the spectacular Puget Sound Lowlands, and is considered a true links course in every sense of the term. According to the “History of Chambers Bay” page on the course’s web site, the course was certified as a Silver Signature Sanctuary by the Audubon Society in 2007. This is a prestigious certification “awarded only to new developments which are designed, constructed, and maintained according to Audubon International’s precise planning standards and environmental disciplines.”

Hickory golfers of the Pacific Northwest, prepare to get your game on at a remarkable venue! Vintage play lovers from all over the U.S. and North America, make your plans and pack your bags. May is going to be special in the South Puget Sound Area!
